DIRT SPOTS that will NOT disappear!! What is the CAUSE ??

I have a very strange thing that is happening which completely bewilders me, so I'm hoping some of you may know what the problem is.

I've been shooting some studio time-lapse sequences with a Nikon D7000 DSLR hooked up to a laptop and controlled by Nikon Camera Control Pro 2. Everything as far as the camera hook up and control is fine. But there are "four" dark spots on the image.

At first I thought it was dirt on the sensor, so I cleaned it, and yet nothing changed. The spots are still there. I cleaned the lens. No change. I swapped to a different lens. No change. I even replaced the camera with another D7000, and believe it or not, NOTHING CHANGED. The spots were still there.

What in the world could it be? And, no, it is not dirt on the computer screen. And, yes, when I transfer the images to a different PC, the spots are STILL there.

I just don't get it.

Any help or advise is appreciated.

Thanks.

Thanks for the answer Bob, but I think you missed my comment about the fact that it could NOT have been the sensor, because after I switched "cameras", the spots were STILL there. Therefore, how could it be the sensor in one camera, when the problem still appears in the OTHER one?

It's really strange.

But, to answer your question, I did it with an Arctic Butterfly.

Thanks.

Post a pic with the spots.

I'd like to accommodate you, but I see no reason for that.

There are four black dots, very slightly soft, on the images. They are NOT dead pixels. And, they are always in the same place in the frame.

Thanks.

Without seeing it we would all just be guessing based on your vague description. If we see it you will get far more useful responses.
