Dirt cheap (IE, free) noise reduction

I don't do enough post to have ever invested in a pro-level NR plugin. Usually mild gating is good. Recently did some industrial videos and had to kill some electrical hum (not interference, actual sound from industrial-sized transformers where the power comes in).

The noise reduction in Audacity is surprisingly good for a free tool. Make sure you get enough audio of just the noise (no talking or background sounds - a second or so is fine) as it samples the noise profile.

Horrendous buzzes, irregular sounds - it's imperfect but better than nothing, especially if your edit has BG music. Most of the usual sources of constant sound - refrigerators, AC, etc. - really surprised how well it does without totally nuking your EQ. Not going to replace a pro plugin, but if you get in a noise bind, give it a try.
