Direct sun on HMC150 sensor

If I record a sunset or sunrise -- 30 to 40 minutes for later time lapse converstion in software -- is there a chance of damaging the sensor or shutter with the direct sunlight coming in through the lens?

Thanks for any advice.

Only if your image is extremely overexposed.

Any time light is falling on the sensor it will generate heat, but the sensor is designed to easily handle any amount of heat that would be generated during the proper exposure of a an image.

A friend of mine burned a perfectly new HVX200 sensor that way. He was outside filming two actors, and turned off the camera to direct them before the next shot. The camera was aimed against the sun for about 20 minutes, once he turned it on it was all black and burned. I think Panny said that it was no idea to repair it since it was really badly burned. Any type of lens can conentrate the sunligt to one point that can easily burn sensors.
