Direct recording to Quicktime, No FCP required

Has anyone tried this? I just saw this on apple's site:

It says you can record direct to quicktime without running any other software. I'm going to try on my new MBPC2D tonight... I'll try with 1080i24PA.

Well, I tried it, and I did get a 1080i file, but it was unreadable by Final Cut for some reason. I will try 720P later, but it is hopeful.

Only works with regular DV, not DVCPRO-HD.
