Can those owners who have used both of these cameras in low-light conditions confirm the direct comparison please. ?

Thanks

(sorry, this should probbaly be in the technical section)

I used to have DVX100B and switched to HMC150 four months ago. I didn't do head to head comparison, but 150 sensors are much less noisy. At 0dB 150 outperforms DVX (with same gamma curve) - something I hadn't expect from HD camera! Actually, SNR is so good that you can can add up to 6dB of gain and still get very clean footage (comparable to DVX at 0dB, I think).

Much newer design sensors that aren't much different in resolution: 960x560 vs. 720x480.

I tested side to side the DVX100 (original) and the HMC150 both at 0db with iris wide open. The HMC150 is noticeably brighter than the DVX100.

And it has a little bit less noise.

I had to shoot an interview outside a theater by street light the other night. I had been shooting the project on a DVX100B but thought I would shoot this scene on the HMC150 for the light. I did a quick test, and the HMC 150 performed much better under the same low light then the DVX100B. I only had to put the HMC150 at 6 for gain and when I put that 1080p footage into the 480P timeline, because it downsized the footage, the noise was less visible.
