What is the music in the credits(first song)? also the fight scene near the 19:00 mark looked really fake but otherwise it was a great movie! :D

@speedy maniac: The composer wrote it for us and recorded it with some friends ;) About the fight scene, I have to agree with you. We didn't really train it in advance, and that's the best I could do with the footage. (I guess)

@jonE5: There's a Teaser Trailer on vimeo: http://vimeo.com/7555330

@FilmBoy77: Thanks, it's shot on a Canon XH-A1, with no 35mm-Adapter. The grading helps a lot so it doesn't look like "raw digital camcorder" footage.

damn man that's some good grading because i was under the impression it was shot with an adapter or a cam with interchangeable lenses. how big was your crew and what was your budget?

Hehe, yeah the grading does a lot for the look and feel of it ;)
The crew was varying, it wasn't really all the same from start to finish.
But there are credits at the end where you can see who did what. There were at least 8-10 people on every set, mostly more. Which isn't a lot, I know...
The budget was around 5000 swiss francs, which was around 4000 $ at the time...
Most went down for SFX, the car, shooting etc.
Then catering, setbuilding (the cuban basement in the end was built in a studio), costumes, TAPES (!), expenses, etc.

But speaking of budget and crew, check out the gallery on our page http://www.atopic.ch to see how we progressed ;)

The Xha1 is a great cam. I still use my xha1 much of the time, and even over my dslr's. This proves that there's no reason one cant make a good film on even old hdv cams. Im very impressed with this film. Nice job!!!

Do you remember what preset the cam was on, or is this a custom preset you used?

@maranfilms: I guess we used the default preset and changed some of the settings for the shadows (blacks) and i guess we reduced the red channel as it is usually too strong on digital cameras.

But as great as the XH-A1 is, this film was finished early 2010, and we've shot two short films on the 7D since then ;) But they are both still in postproduction...

Yeah the XH-A1 is very nice and I am really looking forward to when the big sensors of DSLR are combined with the handling, controls, in&outputs etc of a camcorder. What seems to be happening now ;)
