I all, I haven't posted here in a long time, and I've basically been in post for this film, my last at UCLA, for awhile. Shot on the 5D MkII, the info is included below. Basically an action comedy that's deliberately campy like Bourne Identity meets Crank and Shoot Em' Up. Let me know if ya'll want tickets on 5.5.10. Thanks!

THE EVENT

The Film & Photography Society (FPS Productions) at UCLA is premiering Dilated, an intense action film shot for less than $10,000, yet featuring a high-octane car chase, military HMMWVs, and a cast and crew of more than 200 people. Everything was shot on the 5D MkII, Xha1, EX1, or 7D (We shot with 7 cameras), and if anyone would like tickets, please e-mail me at fps@ucla.edu

THE FILM

Left for dead, abandoned, and confused, test subject ‘D.I.C.’ can’t recall anything about his past life. With a group of relentless mercenaries hot on his tail, all he knows is that they want him dead or alive. Slowly unraveling a sinister plot perpetrated by the highest levels of government, he learns that he may be the key to solving a mysterious, adverse epidemic that threatens the very fabric of society; a fact that still doesn’t stop him from kicking ass and going out with a bang.

This is really epic. How do you shoot with 7 cameras? Which cams were on the steadicam/dolly/crane...

All of the cams were 5D's. The crane set-up did look kind of funny, seeing this massive crane with a little 5D on the end of it. But what a shot! Same with the Crane Truck in the chase scene.

Just saw your sig. Nice. How's things in Singapore, David?

Thanks for the compliments everyone!

We actually shot 90% of it on the 5D, but then the 7D came out halfway through production, and we did the last weekend of shooting with some of them:

I guess I should just stick to guns. I can identify them with no problem. I thought they were all 5D's.

Thats some crew for a student film. Was that like 40 ppl ?

And I agree with what others said, you went all out! Trailor looks good. I see the Crank influence. Great production value and moves, did you shoot full time with 7 cameras ? Was your jib the full size one that takes film cameras ?

Yeah we had about 40-60 people for crew. It was quite intense!

Thanks for the compliments. We shot most of the LA River chase with 4 cameras, the zombie stuff with 7, and the conversation stuff with 3. The reason why we shot with so many cameras is that we only could afford to pay for each location for that long, and we had to have a 1st unit shooting simultaneously with a 2nd unit.

Yep it was indeed a full sized 50' crane. Looked really weird with a small camera sitting in front lol.

Wow, that was pretty amazing! Makes me want to come to LA to watch the full thing.. let me know when its available on DVD

Sorry to plug, but if any of you are local (LA) and want to be put on the VIP guest list, let me know. Thanks! It's tomorrow (5.5.10) at UCLA at 8.

Cheers!
