Ok, here's what i was trying to post last night, which is why you see another thread below this with the same title but no content in it whatsoever.
This seems like the type of thing that would have been covered in the past but there's no way of effectively searching for it because the word "24F" is too short for the search engine to even use. So I apologize in advance if this has been covered before.
Anyways, my issue is as follows. From doing a bit of research, I found out that canons 24F mode in HDV literally records 24 frames per second progressive video to tape, and therefore, no preliminary steps need to be taken to remove any sort of pulldown as you would need to do with regular DV25 if you were going to throw it into a 23.98 frames per second sequence. So with this taken into account, I would need to capture at HDV in 23.98 frames per second. But how? Where are the settings to change the framerate? I went to the AV settings and tried to edit the HDV capture preset but it's locked.
Right now, basically I'm stuck with what I suspect to be a 23.98 to 29.97 conform resulting in a 25 percent increase in speed (which to be perfectly honest, I don't really even mind for something like this; a shot of me bombing a hill on my skateboard, the increase in speed doesn't even look unnatural if one hasn't viewed the source footage because the only motion in the shot relative to the setting is me, no cars or ppl walking). But I'd like to know exactly what settings I should use to properly digitize HDV at 24F, and how to get to them. Thanks.
