i'm wondering about purchasing a deck to digitize my dvx100 footage, most of my stuff is in 24pn but i hear if i use a deck such as a dsr 11, it doesn't hold the pulldown into the camera so the footage isn't true 24p, its 29.97 with a film look. is this so?

is there any decks out there has can hold a pulldown on dvx100 footage, i've used a sony dsr 11 and a panasonic dv2500 (which i didn't care for at all).

i edit on avid xpress pro and adobe premier pro.

thanks.
aaron.

Re: digitizing from dvx or sony deck.

all footage including the 24p stuff recorded by the dvx is telecined into 29.976 ntsc material via differnt methods in the camera, and output in a 29.976 ntsc stream. the camera doesnt do any pulldown to hold. the pulldown is done in post. most nles will recognize the telecine cadance whether flags are present or not anyway if anything is stripped by the deck. you should check the nle youll be working with, and then see what decks are recommended for working with the dvx100 and that nle.
