Digitizing 24pa without mojo

Anyone out there know why when digitizing 24pa footage, it plays fine through the client monitor--everything is in sync with audio, most likely because the camcorder is hooked directly to the monitor. But when I'm editing the clips into my timeline, nothing shows up through the monitor.

In the 'help' section of Xpress Pro 4.5, it says that there should be a delay, because the signal from the computer has to be changed into an analog signal through the firewire to camcorder/deck, so what you see in the monitor is lagging behind your record-side window.

This has proven true with 24pn footage, but working with 24pa footage shows NOTHING when editing.

What gives?

Re: Digitizing 24pa without mojo

You need a Mojo with all versions 4.6 and earlier for 24p and 23.976 projects when outputting to NTSC DV or monitor.

Version 5 does this directly over FIreWire with no need for a Mojo.

Hey every one. I'm helping A friend edit on avid xpress pro 5.0. Can't seem to get output to monitor. What would be the prosedure for doing this. She has an Athlon 1.6 Ghz, g fource 2 Nvidia card. Any help would be great! Using 100A as deck.

Thanks:

Steve

Re: Digitizing 24pa without mojo

This happened to me as well when I tried using my DVX100 as a deck--as a matter of fact, Avid Xpress 4.5 wouldn't recognize the camera at all. I plugged in a smaller palmcorder, a Panasonic PVDV103 and it worked fine. I don't know why the bigger (and stronger?) camera isn't acknowledged by Avid Xpress.
