digital still photos and DVX100a footage (24p)

Hi all,

I'm doing a music video where we're integrating digital still photos with footage shot with the DVX100a in 24p.

Obviously, the digital still photos look extremely sharp and clear vs. the grittier look from the video camera. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to best mesh the two? Anyone have experience with photoshopping digital photos to make them look grainier like video footage?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Ultimately you're going to have to blur the images and you may want to add grain to them. Play around with the "Gaussian Blur" setting in the filters until you see what you like (place them back on the timeline so you can see the video-out). This should be sufficient. If you think adding grain might help, you can do so by goign to the Noise folder of filters and "Add Noise..." The best part about Photoshop is that it's fun to experiment with and easy to work with. However, always remember to "Save As..." as opposed to saving over the original work.

Digital photos are usually lacking in highlights, but that tends to be the problem with DV too. Regardless, any better handling of highlights should be kept simply because it looks better.
