Digital Cinema Society

Re: Digital Cinema Society

well, he seems to have spammed the member list at dvinfo as well. A short google search reveals that a nearly identical ad was posted in a library's guestbook...

http://www.davidsarnoff.org/guestbook.asp

"the whiskey outpost"

http://www.whiskeyoutpost.com/cgi-bin/robboard/robboard.cgi?action=display&num=87

And an listing on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=4691&item=3854766235&rd=1

It may be obvious, but I feel compelled to mention that this guy is probably not personally posting these messages. I also suspect this was simply a drive-by-posting, so people shouldn't get to worked up about his resposes or lack thereof.

Re: Digital Cinema Society

I don't think Barnes is afraid of competition becuase, as he said, his site is free to all.

Nor do I think that he is taking too much interest, it probably took 3 minutes to conduct that search.

...but that's just me talkin.

Re: Digital Cinema Society

I would guess he has not checked back as he has a lot of leg work to do posting on the world wide web...

Or has no plans to return as his work is done...

Pookie, I would suggest that you have a small history for prolonging arguments on the DVXuser forums…enough of a reputation that you felt it necessary to send apologetic PM’s to the people you rebuffed.

I think we're all pretty amicable fellows here, and most of us have a healthy sense of humor. Apparently my humor is entirely and regularly lost on you, and for that I am sincerely apologetic.

I never mean to offend you.

Unfortunately, I think there’s also an unnecessary personal attachment to the discourse here on occasion, and that can quickly lead to brused egos…usually where none are intended.

Again, as I stated before, my original post was intended as humor. I formally state publicly for Pookie’s benefit that I profess no direct personal knowledge of the digitalcinemasociety.org, nor do I indent to discount whatever information or value might be held in its site.

My comment was intended to poke fun at what I believed to be an impersonal advertisement written in a personal manner, in the same spirit I would apply to any television or print ad I found momentarily humorous.

As a laughable webmaster myself, I don’t claim to compete with the digital cinema society and I think that would be apparent to anyone who visited my site. I also feel compelled to state publicly that don’t have a newsletter about my morning bowel movements, I don’t intend to sell my services as a best friend, and I’m not the founder of the cynicism fanclub. I also do not have a cartoon stork.

I have no hatchet to bury, simply an olive branch to lend.

That would be me.

Are you kidding? I have a cartoon life.

Re: Digital Cinema Society

Come on everyone.  Chill out.  I see nothing wrong with J Barnes comments; I found them amusing.  Drive by posts are a waste of webspace as it is :P

At least come in and introduce yourself and say hi and participate.  This POST was as bad as SPAM (legit or not).   Anyway, obviously we all have differing opinions but  if your trying to PIMP something that is supposedly a benefit to us (The DV community) take some time to invest in our community.   THis isnt some MESSAGE BOARD.

Re: Digital Cinema Society

haha ;)

actually, I checked the site under the Tech Savvy Link, and I was really happy to see the article about the DVX gamma settings, but the PICS are broken...will they be fixed soon, because I'd love to see examples.
