Difficulty involved in building a DOF adapter?

I've been researching the different adapters, and they range from cheapo to very expensive. I was trying to figure out how difficult it would be to build one of the DIY models. I've been reading up on jetset models and I was wondering if anyone could chime in on how difficult assembling a vibrating or spinning DOF adapter would be, and if it would actually save me some money by doing it myself.

I've been working on Daniel's design, piece by piece, for a while. It's not as cheap as it seems. Some of the adapter rings for the tube assembly, and the two sets of extension tubes, are certainly inexpensive. But the order from Jetset, plus the extra electronics and parts for a control box, plus the achromat... those are all a bit more expensive, and it adds up quickly. The truth is, after all is said and done, I will have spend about as much on this thing as it would have cost me to buy a Jag35. And the Jag35 adapters are just as good as the Jetset model, maybe a little better since they have a spinning gg version.

yeah I was looking at the jag35's. are the static versions fairly useless?

Just look at test footage. Static ground glass adds way too much texture to the image, and is much more vulnerable to artifacts from dust. VIbrating, or better spinning, helps minimize added texture and also shakes dust off the ground glass.
