Different Pro-Aim rails? Any experiences out there?

So Im looking at DVCity, and notice that they have different rigs using two different rail systems:

this one

and this one

I was wondering if anyone has used either with a DSLR and if they had any insight to the advantages/disadvantages of either system. The first one seems like a knock off of the Cavision quick release rods, which seem perfectly built for DSLRs, but the second one seems like a very universal baseplate that can be used on a wider variety of cameras.

My main concern is clearance. The first one is clearly on a riser, but they have pictures of rigs using DSLRs and the second, flatter, rail system. Does that clearance make much difference?

Thanks for any info you guys might be able to provide!

I have the second system, it uses the standard Manfrotto 357 quick release plate. Yu can adjust the height with a set of shims that come with it to raise or lower it. I actually ended up drilling and tapping new holes to move the plate off centre, becuase the 7D's mounting hole is not in line with the lens and so was not lining up with my mattebox, this is an issue most mounts have. It is VERY solidly constructed and I am very happy with it.
