Different exposure with non Panasonic lens

I've experienced this with all of my Nikkors on the GH1. When shooting stills the exposure changes by itself.

This is when useing the flash. Is this normal? Is it somehow the metering that gets confused with other lenses and changes the flash strength? I have the camera in M mode. It's almost like there's bracketing going on al thou I use the single mode. Some are underexposed and some are overexposed, while other are perfect. If I disable the flash the exposure stays the same.

How is the flash set up? Sorry, I was assuming you were using an external flash... you probably mean the flip-up flash? The other thing I would suspect is whether the lens (or hood) is intruding into the flash path?

Cheers,

I've noticed similar issues. I'll take a picture with the the flash and the picture is washed out. Then I'll take the same picture again and the picture looks fine.

Well as it is right now I can forget about taking pics with the build in flash. Except for the kit lens. But I'll try it with my Nikon SB-900 in "dumb" mode set manually and see what happens.

Possibly due to the lack of communication between the lens and camera the flash has to do more guessing.

I haven't experimented with flash much yet, but it's a pleasant surprise to see the GH1's metering and auto-ISO works quite well with Nikon AI/AIS lenses - something my D90 can't do!

I know what you mean.

I also don't use a flash when using Canon FDs because of the same problem.

You can try locking AE, take a few pics while moving around and see if you get the same results
