Hey, i am looking to buy a DVX for an addition camera to be used in short film projects and I am unsure as to which one I should buy.

Was wondering what is the difference, if visible differences, between the 100 and 102B

Any information or links is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

There is a DVX100, DVX100A, and DVX100B.

The 102 that you are referring to is a Pal version of the camera. I believe, for asian markets.

the 100 was the first incantation. then the A, and finally the B. I cannot really tell you the differences between them all. Someone else will have to fill you in there.

Ohk, thanks.

So i can pretty much read up on the 100, and all info will be the same to the 102, as it is just the PAL version of the 100?

Thanks.

Yeah. 102 is the Pal version. If you are in NTSC land, then you will want to be looking at the 100p (p is for pacific, which is NTSC) And, of course there have been three different versions of the 100.

No problem. Glad I could help. Do yourself a favor though, and save a potential future headache... Buy from an authorized dealer. Unless, of course you are planning on buying used. Then, just make sure you do your research on the seller as much as possible.

There should be a sticky in the DVX section that will be a good read and provide a list of authorized dealers, as well as some of the known scam (crooklyn) shops.

If you plan on buying on ebay, the only seller i trust on there is ElectronixMax. They post pics of all their equipment, have almost 5000 comments w/ 100% feedback, very reputable.

Price is too low to be true (globalmediapro). DVX100B for 3100.00CAD. Anybody bought anything from here. I don't even see the contact # to them.

Not even a single rating

Not even a single rating

I concur with SSalgadoe,

GlobalMediaPro does not even have a single rating in Reseller Ratings..

I smell SCAM from the land of SPAM on this CAM.

If ya'll can be patient... I would wait and see what happens to ALL prosumer and professional SD and HD cameras after RED begins shaking the entire industry to its knees. After RED hits the market, I honestly believe it will result in most venndors selling HD cameras for $4000-5000 to be scrambling to get rid of inventory at fire-sale prices.
If you wait 4-6 months, the first test results in real-world shoots and finished shorts will start showing up. The day of reckoning is at hand for Sony, Canon, Pany and JVC. I love a good drama.

RED is a whole different caliber, and price point than these small HD cameras. I doubt there will be very much impact on these cameras from the RED. It's the VARICAMS, etc. The larger chip cameras that are priced at a similar price point that will see the greatest impact from RED. My .02

There is nothing wrong with globalmediapro.

I got passed on their link quite a while ago, and i have purchased a DCR-VX2100 from them, around twelve months ago.
All legit, and the purchase couldn't of been anymore simpler.

Why scam?

Because their prices are ridiculously low. They are not Panasonic-authorized, so they don't buy from Panasonic. If they're selling for that low, they don't buy from any Panasonic-authorized dealer. So, they got their stock from somewhere else. Where? Somewhere reliable? How can you ever tell? How do you know how many hands it's been through, and that you're getting everything you should? Heck, how do you even know it's not a counterfeit?

You're almost certainly going to end up with a grey-market camera which won't be covered by US warranty and won't include the US incentive packages.
