So.

There I was, sitting in the livingroom watching Eraserhead, cat at my side, after a long day.

Wifey and her Sister are in the other room, waxing nostalgic. Well, actually, waxing legs and pits and such. Irrelevant to the discussion at hand.

So I'm sitting there on the sofa, finally getting cool after a long, hot day. Ceiling fan going around and around...and not one of those silly Casablanca 6 rpm ceiling fans, either. This one goes zippity doodah around and around, makes a pretty nice breeze.

So I'm sitting there, and I start to wonder... I wonder... I wonder...

I wonder what would happen if I shot some pink Silly String at the ceiling fan.

Nothing good. That's what happens.

A brief pink snow storm. Pink dandruff on my head. Little pink strands of yecch all over the living room. One long strand attached to the fan blades going around and around...looks like a double helix from here...persistence of vision and all. (It's doubtful Watson and Crick got the idea from this...don't think Silly String was invented yet.)

Oh, and the cat is very annoyed.

You just have a can of silly string lying around your living room? If I had silly string and a fan I would have done the same thing :) I used to throw pencils up into the fan and see if they would get chopped up or go flying or both.

When I was a teenager we used to play "Ceiling Fan Baseball" at the local restaurant where we all hung out.

It started with rolled up napkins as the ball, but that wasn't as fun as when we upgraded the ball to pieces of ice

See? I provided a public service. Now you don't have to. :)

Or...now you can, but wait until the room is full of people.

If it's not on tape, it didn't happen. :) Just like how I play golf -- if I can't find my ball, the shot doesn't count.

One time I forced my cousin into a room and shot pepper spray into the ceiling fan through a crack in the door. Then I shut the door and listened to the screaming. hahaha

I shot so much of that stuff in the room that we couldn't go in it for a while without coughing.

We also chewed up a bunch of bubblegum making this giant ball. It still had a lot of sugar in it so it was highly elastic. We attached it to one blade of the ceiling fan. Needless to say it stretched out and starting hitting the walls all around. We hurried to turn it off and it got stuck in my cousin's hair. He had to get a haircut.
