Did you reach your goals for 2012 as a director? What's your plan for 2013?

Well the year is coming to a close. Have you reached all your goals as a Director?

I can admit I did not, but I still had an excellent year. Finishing a amazing music video that I had complete creative control on and finished up a large production that spanned from summer last year to spring this year that will finish post December 30th. I also wrote a bunch of music videos for big time directors including one for Pink for the last quarter that just filmed. I enjoy writing for other directors. My book is busting with new ideas for 2013! Let's rock!

I'd love to hear other Director's experiences

No i did not reach all of my goals, but I did make a lot of progress. I've learned a lot this year and am finally comfortable directing actors and a crew. I hope to take that confidence and push as hard as I can in 2013. My goal for 2013 is to direct at least 4 short films, and any other projects that come to me. Hopefully good things will happen.

What an evil, evil question...

No. Yes. Maybe. No. :)

Didn't meet my goals but balanced by some wins in unexpected deviations. Bring on 2013!

Doors have opened and closed for me, this Directing life is > HARDCORE < my first feature will be shot next year so bring on 2013!

Finishing mixing the audio on an indy feature that i wrote/directed and play the lead in. In pre-pro for another indy feature that I will start shooting in jan 2013 that i will write/direct and play the lead. Very low budget. Did learn a lot this last year - especially from all the good peeps on this board and others. Hopefully I can get my budgets up a little bit in the future so I can pay folks as it is now it's all deferred - but I find if the work is good peeps come around. Since I have complete control over the product I can write and direct form my heart and guts. No complaints.

PS,
Looking forward to writing a new script in 2013 that will take me back to Ireland where I shot 1/2 of my last film. I have most of the story.
Ireland sure makes a low budget director look good.

If yer interested - below is a link to an extended trailer of the last film.
The sound has not been mixed. And please forgive the low res of the image.
If you don't blow up the image it doesn't look so bad.
Anyway - not particularly looking for feedback on the trailer - it was meant for family and friends and crew. An official trailer is being cut at the moment.
Anyway - enuf caveats.
Btw - if there are any cameramen in nyc who have some free time this january - who want to help shoot this new film - drop me a line at kgreenfields@yahoo.com
You wont get rich but it should be an interesting shoot :)

I didn't reach any of my goals in 2012, was planning on filming my first movie didn't even get to shoot one single scene had some issues with the actors not being in the same state at the same time. So my main goal for 2013 is to finish rewriting the script for my movie and then hopefully film the entire movie over the summer. Anyone have any tips or advice for a first time director?

Depends, is this a feature film or a short?
