GH4 Did Panasonic just put a GH4 video engine in a traditional video cam body?

Check out the AG-DVX200. https://vimeo.com/125020010 note the comment that Panasonic is using the same or a similar video engine in the AG-DVX200 that they use in the GH4. I think this might be a perfect 4K combination; a fully rigged GH4 for your interchangable lens work and the AG-DVX200 for run and gun.

The DVX200 is said to be using the next-generation sensor past the GH4. And the recording formats are more akin to what's in the HC-X1000 than what's in the GH4. They may be derived from the same general source (the Venus engine?) but IIRC the X1000 has two engines, whereas the GH4 has one.

So is the DVX200 a GH4 in a traditional body? No, it's definitely more than that, it's at least two engines and a newer sensor. But would it match up to a GH4 for a companion camera? Perhaps quite well, although I would suspect that a (not-yet-announced) GH5 would be a better match.

When did the term "handheld" become "run and gun"?

In 15+ years of television, I never heard it called "R&G"... it wasn't until I started reading forums that I saw such a more sexy, stylish and rugged term created for "holding the camera on your shoulder".

Correct. It's a dumb term and somebody coined in on it as usual.
