Did I mess up the frame rate settings on my captures?

Hey all, I have a pretty serious issue and need all the help I can get. I'm a first time poster so I wasn't sure if this was the right place to post, but I did use the HVX to shoot the and capture the footage. I've been working on a feature film for the last 3 years and, now that it's finally done, I'm ready to export it out of my Adobe Premiere Project file. I did so last night, and when I opened the 135gig clip this morning, I noticed that it was very interlacy. Here are my settings:
With the camera: I shot mini DV 24p.
With the capture: I believe I captured under 29.97, and when I reference the clip's properties it lists the frame rate as 29.97, but in parenthesis it says 24p (which is a bit confusing for me).
With the export: I exported as a Microsoft AVI with the compression set to uncompressed. The export frame rate is set to 29.97 and the field setting is on "No Fields (progressive Scan).

It is with these settings that I get very noticeable interlaced lines in the footage. If I set the field to "Deinterlace Footage" it gets rid of the interlaced lines, but gives me a new problem which I might I have trouble explaining here. With this setting, it seems as though surfaces are more pixilated, and I can see, if I look close enough, invisible lines buzzing around in the footage, as if the fields are having trouble cooperating.

So, my fear is that, since I captured progressive 24p footage under 29.97, in order to export it properly, I'm going to have to recapture all my kept shots again under 24p settings.

Can anyone tell me if this is correct? And, if it is correct, is there any way around this issue, IE is there anything I can do to fix the problem and avoid recapturing EVERYTHING all over again?

It's been 3 long years and I was so excited to get my first feature done and out, and this potential problem is bringing me to my knees. Please help!

if your premiere project is set to 29.97 then it be interlacing it in the project to display.
you can try right clicking the clip in the bin and choosing interpret footage and make sure it is set to 23.976

if that doesnt work fix it like this:
make a new premiere pro project that is set to 24p (23.976) not 29.97
import your old project into the new one.
open up the imported sequence, it should now not look interlaced and should look progressive.
if it still has problems it may be that you captured it as 29.97 and not 23.976 so go back and re capture it at 23.976

There aren't any 24p capture settings (at least in PP 2.0 and later), so it shouldn't be an issue.

However, in PP CS4, there won't be auto pulldown removal until the 4.1 update (supposedly). If you're in CS4, you have to Interpret the footage (right-click on it) -- in the Interpret dialog box, choose "remove DV 24p pulldown."

And yes, use a 24p Sequence.

In CS2 and CS3, in a 24p Sequence, pulldown removal should occur automatically with the footage you have, because Premiere is obviously recognizing that it's 24p footage. So, set up a 24p Sequence, and you should be good to go.

Thanks so much for the suggestions! I took the new 23.976 project and imported the old projects in, interpreted the footage to 23.976 and removed pulldown and voila! There are a few renegade shots here and there that are still interlaced and will have to be recaptured, but it's still a hell of a lot better than having to recapture the whole movie. Thanks again, I'm so relieved.
