I went to save my vegas project and i got a weird message. "windows- delayed write fault. Windows was unable to save blah blah, this error maybe have been caused by your computer or network connection." well i hadn't really changed much on the project so i thought oh well and just closed it without saving. But now i just tried to open it again and it loads half way and says the "the file cannot be opened, make sure it is not read protected, and that it is not corrupted." am i SOL here or what? Thats about 5hrs of editing down the tube if its gone.

Look for a file in the same folder called "[project name].veg.bak" -- that will be your backup file. You can use File>Open to open it up as a project.

When i try to open the .bak file i instantly get the error orrucrred while loading message. When i try to open the normal save file it loads half way then gives me that error.... i see no light at the end of this tunnel.

If you go to the Help in the Start menu and type in delayed write, you'll get 15 Knowledgebase articles about it. See if any of the scenarios fit your situation. Hopefully, you'll be able to fix it so it won't happen again.

This just happened to me. Thank god for back up files. I was doing a lot of work on a project, saved it, closed out of it, left the computer, came back two hours later, and the project all of a sudden couldn't be opened. that was scary.
