Was just testing out my DPA 4061 lapel mic in both a Canon 60D and then my HVX 202....a mic I have very little experience with.
Worked fine in the Canon....then plugged it into the HVX...I made sure phantom power wasn't on...but did have the mic input 1 set to mic.
The mic worked initially for a brief moment...but now appears to be dead!
I can't get the meters reading at all....or hear anything through headphones.
I am sure phantom power wasn't on...and have left it off.
I've then plugged it back into the Canon...and it doesn't work there either.
I am certainly not an expert on sound...did I just do something wrong?
Does the mic actually need phantom power to work?
On the DPA website it says this:
For wireless systems: Min. 5 V – max. 50 V
through DPA adapter. With
DAD6001-BC/DAD6024/DAD4099: 48 V
phantom power ±4 V for full performance
Now I think the adaptor I have is the DAD6001...which would tend to indicate it needs phantom power...
but I don't want to just 'have a go' and then blow it up!
it also doesn't explain why the mic actually worked briefly into the 60D! (which doesn't have phantom power either)
Does a mic like this have some left over residual power or something...that meant it did work for a while?
I am hopelessly confused....can anyone help! Thanks.
