If you scan through that photo album you can see a second picture of the sinkhole from a different angle. I agree the first one looks like a photoshop, so it's doubly horrifying to see it from a different angle that shows that... it's real.

it looks eerily similar to the sinkhole they had in 2007.

There should be a new word beyond "sinkhole"... (actually "hellmouth" sounds about right) it's unbelievable that you could have buildings and all that pavement... presumably feeling solid as a rock for years... then suddenly it all drops right out from under you? Hundreds of feet wide and hundreds of feet deep?!?

(Rhetorical question here...) Where the hell did all the earth go? I presume they're building on cavernous ground... and/or they've got underground rivers that fill and flow fast during these storms.

Can you imagine if you had a house or business and one day it just got sucked into the center of the earth?

*ring-ring*

"Honey... the house is gone... no... I mean it's gone-gone."



Thinking about it... the real question is what do they do with those? Put a fence around it and call it a wishing well? Put a "cap" on it? Even if you didn't own the building that dropped in... what of the next building over? I wouldn't be hanging out THERE during any showers...
 
The whole place must be built on caverns. I'm sure no one surveyed first. Still, it's hard to wrap my head around the idea that this is even possible. That at three story building can fall into the earth. Incredible.
