Diagonal jaggies in premiere cs3

Hi,

I did some tests with my new HVX200 and I noted the following:

1080/24pa=smooth diagonal lines
480 DV/24pa=smooth diagonal lines
480 DVCpro50/24pa=smooth diagonal lines
720p/24p=Jagged diagonal lines

By diagonal lines, I mean anything in the image which is at an angle.
I am recording to a firestore fs-100 and I have premiere CS3

Is that a common problem?

No. The only mode where the HVX doesn't look very good (admitedly much worse than the DVX) is in 480i.

Are you seeing the problems only in Premiere, or also in rendered-out video? What about still grabs?

I only see the problem in premiere. If I export the footage to uncompressed, it looks fine when played back

I think I'm having your same problem. I'm pretty sure it's because premiere is having trouble playing back the clips at full quality in the record monitor. It concerned me at first but when I rendered I saw everything was fine so I just ignore it now.

AFAIK Premiere doesn't do full-quality, full-resolution previews while editing, so you're not seeing a true representation of what you started with or what you'll get when you do your final output. I don't think you have much choice but to try to ignore the problem.

If you really do need full-quality, full-resolution previews from Premiere take a look at the Matrox Axio.
