FEATURE: DEUCE OF SPADES - How I made a period full feature film all by myself on ZERO budget

The "Test Screen Edit Version" DVD is on it's way to Florida! Faith made it!

First screening tonight, Saturday 24th of October at 7 pm at The Aquarium, as a part of Daytona Beach Dream Cruise. Darn, I'd love to be there...

Faith,

Good luck to you and everyone with the premiere test screening tonight!

And congratulations on the interview with the french magazine today. You must be on pins and needles waiting to hear the feedback from the test screening? I'm sure you'll let us know how it all goes?

Best Regards,

Robert

I was at the test screening of Deuce of Spades earlier tonight with about 500 other people at a hot rod event in Daytona Beach. Overall, it was a very good movie. Excellent cinematography, interesting story line, and mostly good acting. I love the look and feel of the film. Definitely go see it and/or get the DVD. They also have nice t-shirts.

Oh, and since we all know Faith here, I have to mention that there was one gratuitous scene where she showed off her very hot legs and booty. I think we have another Megan Fox in the making here.

Yes, it was that hot!

The biggest surprise for me was that Faith has an accent. I later found out from Jerry that she's French. Oh well, nobody's perfect.

I had to leave right after the screening, so I didn't have a chance to fill out the feedback form. But I will PM you my comments.

Faith, I have to commend you on a job well done. You are an inspiration to filmmakers all over the world! I don't know of anyone else who can write, produce, direct, shoot, act, and do makeup in a film. But you proved that it can be done. Oh, and that was in your "spare" time. Well all that effort really showed on the screen. I hope you make it big. One day we'll all look at you and say "yes, we can."

And I live to tell the tale....

While I was heading out to El Mirage with French magazine (AMERICAN MUSCLE CARS AND HOTRODS) editor Didier Soyeux, my test Screening Premiere was going on in Florida.

My trip to El Mirage was probably the best thing I could have planned that week-end, not only because it looks like it might yield to a HUUUUUGE feature story about my deuce and DEUCE OF SPADES in the Janurary issue, but also because it helped me retain my sanity and cool during the last hour before and 2.5 hours during the screening.

I kept in touch with my assistant Jerry who flew the one DVD copy and personally inserted it into the DVD machine and he kept me up to date the whole time of the showing... Via texts :)

We had roughly about 650 people see the film. Truly a nice number!

Despite the open air set-up, and the fact that there was parade type cruising scheduled at the SAME TIME as the show, a mere mile or so away, the audience did not leave to go cruise, as tempting as it may have been for most car owners that night.

Instead they sat down for 2.5 hours and attentively watched the movie. No report of anyone leaving and only 3 people left briefly, 2 to get popcorn and third one to go to bathroom (so my screening laison was to report)

The audience seemed very engaged and into the film, laughing during funny moments, interjecting when appropriate (one guy yelled at Bettie :"get in the car" when she kept refusing a ride from Johnny LOL) , crying / very solemn during the sad moments and at the end one BIG APPLAUSE starting (I was told) a few seconds before the end of the film, at the end of climax scene and continuing over start of credit roll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like I am in good shape ! :D

I WAS GREATLY RELIEVED to see the car people embraced the film and "got it". I was worried it might go over their head or be too artsy fartsy for them... But I was (thankfully) wrong.

I had my assistant Jerry videotape some of the people coming out, their initial reaction. I think he was able to get about 20 people or so on tape, so I shoudl have enough to edit a short clip for promotional purpose. It was darn dark though so hopefully the footage is ok...

Now I await to get the feedback forms from Jerry, who is flying back Tuesday. It's gonna take me a while to go through them all to see if there are common comments to take into account before finalizing the film... Fortunately not all attendants filled the form so hopefully I will survive the ordeal !!

Sumfun, thank you for rating my cinematography 5 stars out of 5 !!! I read your other comments and made a note of everything... I will address some of your other notes via email in a moment...
