Determine the age of your 5D2 via its serial #

I had posted this a while back on another forum and thought it may be useful here...there is no guarantee this theory is correct but several ppl's purchase date and serial number coincide .

The first 2 digits may represent what month of the product cycle the camera was made.

For example;

Sept 08 -> 00
Oct 08 -> 01
Nov 08 -> 02
Dec 08 -> 03
Jan 09 -> 04
Feb 09 -> 05
Mar 09 -> 06
Apr 09 -> 07
May 09 -> 08
June 09 -> 09
July 09 -> 10
Aug 09 -> 11
Sept 09 -> 12
Oct 09 -> 13
Nov 09 -> 14
Dec 09 -> 15
Jan 10 -> 16
Feb 10 -> 17
Mar 10 -> 18
Apr 10 -> 19
etc etc

Bought mine in september and it's a 23.

I bought mine November 2008 and it's an 02 serial. Seems to work.
