Hi All,

wanted to share my latest project shot on the F55 Slog3/Cine

http://www.stefankroesbacher.com

(currently top left box....)

Here's what we did:
Screen Shot 2015-02-05 at 12.03.46.jpg

The studio was 12m*6m*5m
As we wanted to have a "store" feel we decided to have basically a single source of daylight.
Therefor we had to full frost all the windows to create a single soft source of main light.
this decision was made because we shot from 7am to 11pm, and therefor had to
make the light constant throughout the day (Sunrise was 8am, set was 4pm (facing north in winter))
In the pic you see 2 6ks and 2 4ks evenly distributed throughout the glass front.

on the inside we added a 1k spacelight for the backroom, as the windows were blocked
by an artificial back wall and there was too little light there.

for the shots with the models on the floor we brought in a 800w him with a chimera softbox
to make them stand out a little.

this light we moved upstairs later to further get some light into the backroom...

the rotation relocation station was the entrance to a dark room of the photographers studio,
so we put 2 LED panels set to a little warmer tone inside with the door opening frosted ...

For the topshots we place a f700 with an odyssey recording UHD on a 10mm Sigma 3.5
Naturally due to the wide angle bending the persons way left or right (really ugly) we had to
support that with 2 more cameras over the group on the left and the sales floor and comp that
which i did inside fcpx....
we used Gopros, with on unfortunately deciding to brake somewhat during the shoot, therefor the models
on the right look as they do ;((
In the last shot we used the FS700 only...

Everything was edited and graded inside FCPX,
Animations were done in Motion..

i must admit i had a hard time with slog3 on this one.
can't put my finger on it why...
plan on doing some tests slog2 vs slog3, especially concerning hi light clipping/compressing...

check it out!

Cool, thanks for the breakdown. A really nice, clean, commercial look as always Stefan. What lenses were you using on this one?

Hey, thank ;-)

as i said:
topshot was a sigma 10-20 3.5 set to 10mm plus additional gopros

my kit:
Sigma 18-35 1.8 (wonderful lens)
Samyang 35mm and 85mm
Nikon 135mm 3.5 (old one) for the shot them leaving the store...

that's about it...

still thinking on getting the 50mm and 135 samyangs,
or a 50mm sigma art 1.4 (and swapping the samyangs 35mm and 85mm one by one later)
kinda wait and see for me, as sigma is rumoured to bring out an f2 ART series standard zoom
which would be a no brainer if it's like the 18-35...

Hey Morgan,

not, we finished this in UHD.
we shot a plate RAW in 4k on the odyssey to move the walls in in post a little.

we had to mount the camera fixed on the ceiling with the odyssey at the video village
controlling record of the camera simply because:
a) there was no space to put a 5m crane in
b) we definitely didn't have time to change setups - we wanted a situation where
we could rock with the camera on the floor and see what we can get in the time given...
this was also the reason to work with basically one light source as we had never to change
setups when moving around in the room... it was just me moving - all lights stayed
where they were for the entire day after the model-closeups on the floor.
c) also we had tons of shots to do with them on the floor, standing, model placement changes etc.
so we wanted to have the freedom to say at any time: ok let's do the topshotIMG_3286.jpg for this
setting...
d) we also had to plan for a photographer to shoot stills which further decreased our
shooting time...

so basically one light setup with which we could shoot the entire film with no need
of changing setups...

just for reference:

here's a screenshot from the fs700 without the gopros ...
to pull this shot off with only 1 camera we would've had to put around 30m high ;-)Screen Shot 2015-02-05 at 14.00.04.jpg
