I'm not very familiar with Photoshop, but I can't think of a way to simply do this in AE, nor do I need to go to that overkill.

I have a shot of 2 buses and 2 vans blowing up. I need to make them look like they have sustained a lot of damage in the aftermath. The explosion and all is all in AE, so no pyro was used. Do you know of any websites that explain FULLY on how to create a crapped out exploded looking vehicle out of a regular shot? I've seens some stuff on destroying buildings, but it's not really what I'm going for. Ideas?

Any number of methods can be used, employing an equally varied number of tools and imagery.

Also, I HIGHLY suggest you check out Mark Lowe's work on the Twilight Fest entry "Broadcast" by user Darkline. It's phenomenal and I think right in line with what you are asking for.
