Deschutes River plus tributaries flowing North to the Columbia River

Three months of shooting has yielded this 9 minute edit of the Deschutes Basin. In the end this will be a 15 month project showing all tributaries in all seasons as the snowmelt from the Cascade Mountains makes it's way North to the Columbia River and eventually, the Pacific Coast. Shot with the AF100 using Tokina 11-16 f/2.8, Canon EF 70-200 f/2.8, Canon FD 35-105 f/3.5, Nikon ED 18-35 f/3.5, Nikon ED 300 f/4.0, Nikon ED 80-200 f/2.8.

As a side note, about 3 weeks ago a simple visit to the dermatologist resulted in a total of 11 hours of surgery for a cancer that was discovered in my nose. Reconstruction has made it temporarily impossible to see into a viewfinder so I will be unable to shoot for the next month or so. Needless to say, I'm looking forward to a return to the camera.

Thanks,
Scott

I love it! Those birds grabbing fish from the lake are incredible.
You kept the exposer in check on all the shots. Its hard to do when shooting nature in bright sunny conditions. Thanks for sharing!
Sorry to hear about the cancer. Stay strong Scott and look forward to getting back out and getting more fantastic shots in your backyard.

Beautiful Scott, simply gorgeous- some shots seem positively painterly, and the fog looks like an impresionist painting!

I thought the raptor snagging a fish at 1:40 was awesome, but then you topped it with a bald eagle- just so-freakin-cool!

I love how the terrain changes as the river goes through changes, too. The only thing i was left wanting was a nice CU of the log at 5:35- such great textures on it!

It seems you have a love affair with this river, and I can see why! How long will the final film be?

As for your health, I wish you the best- a close friend of mine had a series of cancers removed in 3 procedures from his arm and face and is doing fine now.
I wish you a complete recovery, and hope the time healing and not shooting doesn't drive you crazy! I guess you'll have to spend more time here???
