Dersert/Night/Interiors: HVX+m2 Screencaps

Aside from the HMI, we had three baby 1K's, a 4-bank kino, and a mini-flo (particularly helpful for flying in an eyelight at night. We got by in the desert pretty well with two polito boards and 6x6 bounce frame. We didn't do much silking in the daytime because of the specifically harsh style we were going for, so YMMMV.

i think the shallow focus in these grabs looks good. adds to the warm and hazy feeling of the desert surroundings.

Nice work- All of the shots looked great IMO- and I enjoyed the "trailer" as well.

The Tree shot is killer- you nailed that one for sure. What was your lighting setup and scene files setting?

Hi.

Great clips and stills, there's some beautiful shots in amongst the teaser trailer.

As a side bar, for those that do love the use of very shallow depth of view, and in the case of this film even the central image drifts in and out, I highly recommend watching - millennium mambo (Qianxi Manbo) by Hou Hsiao Hsien. The DOP is Pin Bing Lee and he does an unbelievable job. Also, like your piece, the lead actress (Qi Shu) is mesmerizing. For anyone interested in filmmaking this a must see even if you hate the film.

Thanks.
not to divert from the subject of this thread, but i too greatly admire pin bing lee... and millenimum mambo is one of the key reasons why...
