Derelict Gymnasium DOF Machine Alpha Version Test

Hey guys. We just finished a rough version of the DOF Machine. This 35mm adapter uses a spinning cd-player motor and a sandpapered cd dummy for the rotating ground glass. We only had a +7 cumulative macro lens even though a +10 was required. I didn't want to leave my DVX in the car all day with the hot sun, so we tested it on a Sony Hi-8 that was in the gym. I'm still getting the hang of focusing and what not. The lens is a Nikon 50mm 1.8.

We found some better ground glass and will do a test with a frosted cd dummy soon. In addition to this we will do a test with Policar's Home Depot 35 wax adapter. We'll keep you posted.

Hey, it works! Not quite 35mm, but it works!

You can see a flicker, which I guess is the CD being unevenly "sanded."

I've got to make one of these things, it sounds sooo easy. Got a feeling that it is pretty hard to get good results though!
