Hey Guys,

http://www.campusmoviefest.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/IdeaFlow.woa/wa/showAMovie?movieID=1946

We created this for a 5 minute film festival called Campus Moviefest (www.campusmoviefest.com), the world's largest student film festival. Given a time constaint of 6 days, our film, "Departure," was shot half in Boston, MA and half in Brisbane, Australia. I led the Brisbane production, while my co-director and my brother led the Boston production.

Shot on the DVX100A; I used my homemade 35mm adaptor for many of my shots in Brisbane (including city shots and female actress shots). This was the first time I have put the adaptor to use in a production. I thought the experience was great overall.

Edited in Final Cut Pro; Special FX created in After Effects; Original score and sound FX created in Pro Tools.

Let us know what you think of "Departure" and check out some of the festival's other films. Enjoy!

GreenRanger: dvx100a NTSC -- I should clarify that I'm from Boston but I'm currently studying in Brisbane, Australia.

Shamrock: thanks for posting a working link.

I didn't like were the cuts went together with the music. it put too much emphasis on the importance of the music which was not important at all
did I make sense?...

Pretty nice work there. Liked the editing and effects. Some shots didnt stich together perfectly. Balcony shot was very white then looking down on the street was very - normal. I didnt see the point to that particular POV shot. The next shot was great - long shot of her standing - really gave me the feeling of ALONE, and I think without the POV it would work better. Too many set up shots of Brisbane city also I thought and of the airport.

Editing and effects shots were pretty good as I said.

He is a business man? playing a business man? with that big chunky black ring in his ear? Doesnt sell it for me. Of course I am being very critical here, not sure if thats what you were looking for.

The score I thought was pretty good, especially the build up at the end.

Pourquoi a-t-elle parlé français ? Not saying its a bad thing but just curious about the choice. Anyway nice work!!!!!

u have a lot of talent in telling the story well!! editing was secretive and compelling euff to maintan interest. Although Ive seen way too many films since '6th sense' that drown in the wake of its originality. so i dont think was very original... for me at leaste. :(
