quickly wanted to bring to light, my piece that I co-wrote and edited. It appears on the recently released Stay DVD and is titled Departing Visions. it is a short 7 minute featurette about near death experiences and it was 80% shot on the FX1.

Thanks for posting cygnet74. I just saw "STAY" and your featurette and I'd like to know what wasn't shot with the FX1. The P.O.V. approaching the door and the ceiling fan shot looked like maybe it came from a different camera. The reason I want to know is because this is the first time I've seen footage from this cam that wasn't downloaded and I'm very impressed. I didn't see any HDV artifacts in the leaves blowing in the trees, the grass blowing in the field, or the ocean footage, all said to cause big problems. I know you didn't shoot this footage but in editing it, did you notice any artifacts that you had to cut around? Were there any compliants from the cameraman or production people about resolution lose and blurring when panning, macro-blocking and the like?

After seeing your featurette I'm now thinking of buying this camera. Thank you very much.

actually, i did do some shooting. i shot the interviews on a DVX100A. and my wide exterior shots of los angeles were also shot on the DVX. everything else, was shot on the FX1 by the producer. i could see compression artifacts on the HD version of the footage. mostly in the fast moving water/beach footage. downconverting to SD for the DVD hid a lot of that.

I appreciate the quick and informative reply.

Once again, I wish that Panasonic had put 16+9 chips in the 100B. I would have bought it. I guess I'll just work with what I have, and wait for a DVX100C, HVX200A or some 2nd generation HD cam from one of the "other camera" manufacturers.

Oh well, just another sad day.
