Denied Barry's book by Panasonic

Hello,
This thread seems pretty much resolved, but I would like to add that I purchased a new US HVX from BH on 10/29 and found thumprints on the LCD when I opened it from the packaging. When you pay $5,400 for a camera you would like to know that nobody outside the factory has touched it. I called BH and their explanation was that they opened it up to show a customer. I asked them, "well isn't that what the store's displays are for?" They didn't have a response.

I've been a longtime BH customer but after reading some of the problems others have had on this thread, well, I don't know what to think now.

Can somone tell me what they think about my camera with thumprints on it? I trust BH's explanation but do you think this is fair? For all I know the camera could've been dropped on the counter.

If you wish, I can check the camera's povenance here. E-mail me with your B&H order number. BTW -- this would not be the first or second or tenth time we've seen fingerprints on a brand new, right-out-of-the-box product.

I think if they admitted it had been opened to show a customer, then it should be considered an "open box buy or dispaly model" and you should have been informed of this prior to purchase. IF you are paying the price for a new product then that's what you should receive, either that or get a substantial discount for the used camera.

Thank you to B&H for resolving the situation. They are sending me a nice gift card in the mail. I will still recomend B&H to anyone despite what happened. You'll get great customer service when you shop with them.
