Demo Reel

Technical Notes:

The video seems heavily compressed.

Also I would open with your business information before any scenes start.

On the Artistic Side:

Props on the Sigur Ros.

I wouldn't open with that zoom-in scene. In fact, I'd throw it out altogether.

I think the shot with the boy and girl on the bench could use some CC.

Toward the end the shots seem somewhat unimportant and well, er, ameteur, for an ending. They appear to be (mostly) basic, neutral shots of the birdfeeder, the dog, the child, the violin players. I think we could do without them. Maybe the children could stay.

I say close it with the couple kissing. Why not?

I thought it looked really good! I could tell a lot of the shots were raw because I've seen the same shots with full CC in your final projects. Anyways, I'd love to see a CC-version of this demo! Good job.

Sepaking of CC LOL!

do i need to take the footage from my projects, that are already cc'ed, or can i un'cc them and CC them in my demo reel?

I think that if you did that it would be misleading. You should be proud of the final projects you created and use them to sell your services, rather than try and make them fit some sort of "mold" for the reel. You know? I don't think a demo reel requires additional "stylization" (is that a word?) to sell a Cinematographer.

Pretty good Robbie! I'd take your end title and put it at the beginning as well....and also include your contact info. If you ever use this people need to know how to get in touch with you.

i'l put it on my site.

Some things my pal critiqued on it:

Take out the weddings shots, and slow mo most of this reel. And cut it down more.

I'm going to cut it to about 1:30. I just really like the ending.
