Demo Reel Shot With Hvx

It's one thing to devote an entire clip to a Krameresque (or any other) style. It's another to put a few touches in with that kind of stuff. One could make comments like that about any plugins...but in the end they are there to be used.

Although I agree with the others that it's somewhat long and that there are a few segments that could be chopped down without losing the desired impression, the reel is damn nice.

When something is good.. and is this good in this case, why not have some scope to it. I didn't think it was too long at all. Really beautiful images. Most people have shorter reels too as they may not have as much good looking stuff and I know I liked how it was cut together and used the media.

WHere did you go on your travels? What was this mostly for? Cheers as this is some lovely lovely footie

Thanks guys. I certainly can't take all the credit. Ashish Varghese and Ferdi Willemse had a hand to play in alot of those shots. They are both excellent cameramen. Ferdi is from The Netherlands and Ashish lives in India. They're both moving to the U.S. to help finish production for our film, Ark Hunt, in several weeks.

So what camera besides the HVX (with the Brevis) was involved?
When I first started the project I was using the DVX100. Only a few of the shots are with that camera. 80-90% with the hvx. Also used my canon rebelxt to shoot the timelapses. You can get slower shutter speeds, which give you that laser-like trailing effect.

Nice, which motion head?
It's not written on the head and I can't find the invoice. It is used to track stars with a telescope - about $200. Very slow moving and steady.

how long did it take to get so much awesome footage in so many diverse locations?
It took about 3 1/2 years and 10+ countries. We've filmed as a team in about a dozen or more countries.

Thanks man! The film is about my search for Noah's ark, called Ark Hunt - www.arkhunt.com . We've filmed in Russia, India, Holland, Denmark, Philippines, Turkey, Armenia, Georgia, etc.. Despite your religious beliefs, there's certainly alot of evidence around the globe that it was once completely under water ;)

In a week, the three of us are headed to Europe to film in Denmark, Italy and the U.K. Later this year we are finishing the last bit of our out of country filming in China, Australia, Philippines and India. Because the film is on a small budget, without financiers, we have to travel rugged and stay in hostels. It's all become our passion, so it's not a big deal to eat out of trash cans and not shower for weeks at a time... kidding ;)

do you do freelance or work for one company?
Our company is called Creative Lab. www.thecreativelaboratory.com The company revenues pay for our independent films.

I actually didn't like most of the After Effects stuff. Too Andrew Kramerish for my tastes. All the shots were beautiful, though. VERY nice comps in there.
Yeah, I definitely have more than one clip in there from a Kramer tutorial. The after effects stuff is really not my thing, I've just forced myself to learn some of it to help pay for what I love - travel and film. I'm certainly not ashamed to have used a few tutorials, it's a great way to learn. I still have ALOT to learn! There's alot of talent who can do much better than me in AE. Besides, I hate computers.

Nice reel, a little too long.
I was kind of worried it might be a bit too long as well... thanks for the advice. I plan to shorten it up.
