Demo reel section: Events

These clips are completely taken out of context so it's hard to feel the flavor of it. As far as picture quality I thought they were nice and definitely convey the reality of each individual situation/scene. I did find the banging noise in the beginning to be distracting. I would imagine taking some of the sound out and then laying over a nice jazzy music track over the top would give it that pro-flare and that’s my 2 cents:) Good luck w/ the rest of it.

I wanted to see that giant bar a little better. It seems really dark just in that part.

Nice colors throughout. I like the purple china lattern-looking lights in the bar scene.

I think this looks really good, you get the vibe of the place.

only thing I would say would be to use a tripod for the shots of the tables and and cooks only because they are still shots. its nit picky but the little shakies kind of take away from the precision of the action(or non action) that you are filming.

kudos though

what shot will SELL the video, the reason why anyone would buy some video of their own event?

They thought it was memorable, fun, exciting.

Start with video of stuff like that. People moving, laughing, talking, drinking. if they were not all that engaging, you as a shooter, have to work with the people to get them to liven up or watch and wait till someone cracks a smile or swigs a drink.

Unless of course this was a food, cooking thing?

This was filmed for a catering company who set it up for Duke University Alumni. The light was very low as the generators kept going out (shot at 30P, 1/30th shutter). I did use a tripod for those shots, but the floor was wood panels and would shake whenever someone would walk by. It was a difficult shoot, but it came out pretty nice.

thanks for the feedback!
