Hello all, this is the first time i have put together a demo reel. I'm a sophmore at Temple Univeristy here in philadelphia. Lately i have been starting to take on more and more freelance projects and figure it was time that i put together a demo reel instead of just sample works. So this is the first attempt.

Please let me know what you think. I have a few things i'm a little weary about but i'll wait to see if anyone else brings them up. Also the text in the beginning and at the end are just for the time being. I have plans of doing something much, much cooler, I just havent had the time. This is also a first draft. Please let me know what you think. Thanks.

Oh i also meant to say, All of it was from projects over the last year and was either shot on the DVX, 16mm, and or other miniDV cameras. I'll also have a full website up and running hopefully in the next month.

Good stuff - I have a similar timelapse style approach I hope to take in an upcoming video I'm working on. Not bad - not bad at all

Lots of goodness.

The one thing I would say is the music really feels like it's building, but it doesn't deliver a release until the end. The images don't build in the same way.

The bicycle shots were my favorite. How did you do the time lapse with the camera move on parking garage roof? I'm scratching me head :)

I'm assuming he got a shot of the sky from off the top of the parking garage - let it get the timelapse, then (from the same or very similar angle) started dollying along, then bezier masked in the sky. It looks pretty good and holds up fairly well under scrutiny

Or you could also do a very very slow dolly move as the timelapse - then roto in the biker

The bike shot on the parking deck was real hot, i thought the compositing was effective as well. My only concern is the couple of "interview" shots thrown in there, you can definitely see the difference in quality there. But other than that, it has a real tight and connected feel.

Give us the run down on the bike shot, please.

Nice collection of images. Really liked all the bike shots. But I'm biased towards bikes

Hey guys thanks for the feedback. Cutting out the doc shots, like djdougyfrsh said, was something i was thinking about doing. What do you guys think? Also as far as the music building up and not the video, do you think have quicker cuts towards the end might be better?

You guys were pretty close about the bike shot with the sky. I shot it toward evening time when the sky was a real nice even blue, so in post i keyed out the sky. The only problem was that the parking building had some blue in it as well. So i added an 8 pt mask in final cut around the parking building. After some careful tweaking i got it to work out. The short that that shot was from just screened last night at the philadelphia film festival. I just wish i had my DVX when i shot that. oh well. anymore feed back would be welcomed. thanks again.
