Dell wants me to cancel my order, too - they say it's backordered AND no longer available and they suggest the very non-equivalent Sony HCR5. My guess is that this is SOP when they offer goods at a great price, backorder them all, and then don't get enough takers at the regular price to break even - they just drop the camera. Pure speculation. Tastes like that shop in Brooklyn's tactics, though!
