Dell 2405 Monitor Deal

Hey there, I have been hearing reports of people on this thread picking up the Dell 24" 2405 monitor for around $750.00. I am wanting to purchase one, and am wondering where you guys are finding this deal. The best and only price I have found is for $879.00 on Dell's site. Can someone who has gotten one of those deal, Barry for instance, could you please help?
I know it is only a savings of a hundred and so dollars, but hey, it wouldn't hurt, especially if I can use that money to help pay for one of those overpriced matte box systems for my HVX. Thanx!
Just trying to keep it real, day by day.

I called Dell directly. I got it for 760 plus 20 for extended warranty. Call and tell them you've seen it for 720 or something like that.. which is what I did see it for a while ago. I'm sure they'll work with ya.

I usually go to techbargains and wait for their coupons. The lowest I've ever seen it was $789, but then you have to pay tax & shipping on top of that.

I got the dell 26 inch HDTV monitor (w2606C model) I think that's it. and it also can be used as a computer monitor. Got it for 999.00 last month. A sony Vegas timeline on this monitor looks freaking awesome. I dont know how I ever worked on a 17 inch flat panel.

Dell tip of the day... Wait at the end of the month to buy from Dell website. Always have those 25% rebate around

The thing that makes those sets *not* worth the money is the resolution. The W2606C has a resolution of 1366x768. Not nearly enough for full screen editing/viewing of 1080i/p footage. The 2405FPW has 1920x1200. It also has other *little* features... Memory card reader, usb hub, etc, I'm not sure if the W2606C has those. The W2606C is good for a tv.. Speakers, etc... But way too expensive with too little in the resolution department to make it worth it for HD editing. Even without any coupons or deals you can get the 2405FPW for $880.

Because they're not currently offering any deals on it. $1099 is the normal price, but every once in a while they'll offer 20% off or 25% off.

Wow. I have thought about this monitor over the last 3 0r 4 months and it seems like everytime I check it has been around $930 or so. And sometimes on sale I thought it was a low as $790 with coupons. JUst shocked that it is that high right now. The only good thing is I know I ain't buying it til it goes back on sale.

try calling their business line and tell them you saw 824 last week - i did that and they gave it to me for that price

I've seen some complaints, on the Apple boards, that the Dell 2405 lags for just a fraction of a second. Has anyone had this experience using it with a Mac? Is it frame-buffering or something?

Here is an example of the lag (from another Dell LCD vs a CRT) but said to be very similar to the 2405 response:

I can't believe it's gone up again. When I bought it 2 weeks ago, I got it for 760 plus 20 for the extended warranty. The total with 50 something in tax was only 850.

Call and tell them you want the deal. I did and they hooked me up. It was going online for 824 at the time so I saved 70 bucks I think.
