Dell 2405 case?

I got a great price on the Dell today by calling them direct and only cost 16 bucks to have it ship next business day.

I'm just wondering if anyone has bought a case or sometype of protective cover for the monitor for travel? Anything protective to put on the LCD screen itself to protect?

I'm hoping there is a shallow pelican that will accomodate or something such. Also, does anyone think that the stand/mount could be modified and or secured to a C-stand platform?

I decided I needed to save cash and I think the dell will be the best deal.. Just hope to get it secure for all the gigs.

I'd call or e-mail places like this first to see if they have a case that fits that monitor. Still, these cases are expensive.

I've travelled a lot by car with an LCD monitor, and the best solution for me was to wrap it two or three times in a large beach towel to protect the TFT screen, and secure it in place in the rear seat of the car with a rear-seat shoulder and seat belt (as if it were a child :)). Obviously this is a no go for air travel, so it all depends on your travel mode.

Digidesing Digi Pack works for my 2405

Digidesing Digi Pack works for my 2405

Hi,

I have used a Digi Pack bag from Digidesing for my 2405. The Digi Pack is cloth lined so it will not mess up the LCD pannel. The Digi Pack is designed for 2 rack space Digi 002 rack or Digi 002 - the firewire audio inface for Pro Tools LE.
I take the stand off the 2405 and slide the monitor into the Digi Pack - it's snug, but not tight. I don't set anything on the bag as it is as soft bag not a case. With over the sholder stap it is easy to carry.

Cool idea! There are a lot of similar sized "rack bags" - some much cheaper; but the sizes should be similar, and some have a hard frame that should be extremely protective...

The guys over at www.vfgadgets.com have a very nice although fairly expensive LCD mount for any 5/8" baby spud. It screws into the standard NEMA screw pattern on the back of nearly all LCDs.

You guys all rock. I really think this might be the best solution here. It's also cheap and looks like some awesome protection:

Steindj, thanks for that awesome website! What do you guys who have the Dell think? Is 25" 3/4 cutting it too close? Is 4" deep enough?

Majoraxis... I also like this idea with the protools bag. Seems like it would be very versatile. Is it worth the case? So it fits pretty nicely into this bag? How easy is it to take off the back stand?

Does anyone plan on using the stand device that filmsox put in the thread?

I think that it's this kind of input that makes this forum so friggin' awesome. Like if I have concerns and questions.. others are figuring out the same things.

Let's find a great solution to this and we can all benefit... And lastly, anyone figuring out some kind of battery solution for the Dell? I don't mind getting a brick, but what kind of downconverter would I need with the Dell?

Thanks ya'll and let's get rockin!

filmstox.. ,

I have a dumb question again. I have a C-stand and grip head.. just the standard one from Mathews. Would this connector spud work? What would I need to make it work?

Has anyone thought of making a monitor stand for the Dell with a C-stand? Avmona has friggin great prices on stands and I have 3 now so I want to use one for the monitor if possible.. and leave the plastic stand in the office....

Thanks

I had a blonde moment over the metal case. It's not wide enough... Anyone else coming up with solutions? I have a shoot next weekend and I'd like to pick something up by then.

I remember back in the day that there was a plastic case with a handle and some tie up straps.. and interior pluck out foam... It was cheap but would be fine for what I'm doing.... anyone else remember what I'm talking about? I know they used to use it for scenery and large props and what not.

Anyone know the exact size of the dell LCD? I'm hoping to find a case that will fit. Is it really 22x22? Seems like it would be longer than wider...

Please, can anyone confirm. I am hoping to order a case and want to make sure. When I finalize I'll put the info on here. These are expensive.. and hard to locate and just want to make sure I'm not obsessing over things.. when it could be solved by a shorter width.

Thanks

J

Ulanta..

One thousand thank you's.. I couldn't find this info anywhere. We are also very happy now then. I think there are a bunch of cheap solutions.... I'll post my findings here soon....

Cheers... and are you looking for plastic? metal? cheapest?

Did you get my PM? I'm looking into small "rack bags" lie from Gator.

My criteria are complex, based on all the other things I have to lug around... but Rack-y and stackable would be good!

Justyn,

Even if that particular metal case doesn't fit, you might still want to call StarCase to see if they or anyone else they can recommend has something to fit the Dell. Someone should have something for you. Good luck!

Steindj,

You are right there. I actually found a lot of great cases that will work.. after finding out the actual size of the monitor. I think I'm going to go with a Pelican 1650 as it 's big enough with padding all around and it has a handle and rolling wheels. I have seen one on ebay for 199 including shipping.

There are several more cost effective methods. The Rack bags do look good and there are some atache' type cases that are available for 100. I'm waiting to get the Dell here on Monday before I make my decission.. want to see the mount/ base and all that biz..

I would like to get the starcase.. Looks really nice indeed.... Anyone find a good deal, post it here. I think I did see the 1610 pelican for around 120.. so that's about the cheapest hardcase I saw that would fit.

Good luck all

Case update. I ended up finding a local storm case dealer here in Orlando. I bought the 2975 model for 175 with no shipping and local pick up. It's a big case with wheels and a handle. I'm sure I'll be able to have a bunch of suppor things inside the case.

Here's a link to the case: 2975

Hope we all have some awesome images for these monitors...

No problem. Let me know if you want Jerry's info. He sells them for 175 plus 30 for shipping, I think. I did see plenty of other options but I like this the most.. and after a while, I could always use it for something else if necessary. I also like that it's got wheels and will work as a dolly of sorts. i could strap my 2' kino to it and haul that along with a softcase for the HVX and another grip bag for audio and whatever crap.

I think the DELL will be a great client monitor... and the Marshall would be more of a monitor for me... and probably one I'd bring for a more mobile operation... and the Dell for the studio.

Lord.. let the gigs fall like rain before the effin finance charges and late fees mount.....
