Delkin SDHC card failure

Did my first shoot and the Delkin SDHC card failed after shooting an entire day of footage. Delkin says that this has been common with using their cards in the HMC150 and have asked us to send in the card to have the footage retrieved. I noticed there was another post about this in February. Anyone had any recent problemes with Delkin cards?

I use a Delkin Film Pro 16GB Class 6 card, haven't had any problems with it in 9 months. Had an A-Data that would throw out an error message at the 12 minute mark of recording, but was fine after that.

When I buy a new card, I stick it in the camera and hit record. I figure that if I catch a problem then, fine, I've taken reasonable steps to protect my shoot. If the card fails in the field .. well. it does.. done what I can to prevent problems .. due diligence.

Have you made a backup of the card? Tried the Panasonic Card tool ?

I've started to take my Acer netbook with and backup cards as I shoot, so I get home with 2 copies of footage, just in case.

Honestly, if the 150 had dual slots for redundant recording, I would sleep better at night. Having two DV tape transports in a camera is silly, but with the new all-digital systems, dual slots isn't unreasonable to ask for.

Makes sense too, if you are going to have a catastrophic data loss during a shoot, it will be your recording medium involved, so either give us a redundant transport, or offer up bullet-proof SDHC cards for a premium.

Wow, I hate to her that. I have 5 Delkin cards and have not had a single problem. That was the one that was recommended to me by B&H.

I too have a few Delkin cards. So far so good. It is a good idea to unpack the card, format in camera, hit record. Let the card fill up and stop recording. I do this with all my cards. I did have a Transcend card fail during this first record. Sent it back, received a new one. New Transcend working fine. I try to record with all my cards several times before I get to a job. I figured this is the least thing that I can do to ensure my cards are ok. It is also nice to have a little luck on your side.

You fill up the whole card??
