Deleting Clips From SD Card

Gary Huff and David Jimerson helped me big time today with scaling back/deleting clips on P2 media cards that I have archived by using P2CMS for Mac. I have AVCCAM Viewer but it seems I can't do the same type of management that P2CMS does. The software is looking for only the SD card and I can't figure out how to direct it to see the hard drive I have archived to.

Here is what I need to do. I have a lot of SD cards that I have have backed up to hard drives. Basically perfect copies of the SD card for archiving. I've been told to pare them down for archiving. They don't want me to save the entire card only what I may need. I know this isn't ideal but thats what they want. If it was my shop I would save the card as is on the RAID. I'm not interested in transcoding everything since that would make it an even bigger file so what's the ideal way to delete clips from an archived card?

It looks like I’ll have to move the media from my back up hard drive to an SD card in its native format in order to delete clips from the card then archive the card again. Does anyone know another way?

I need to archive the shoots but want to delete bad takes to save space on the archive RAID.

I don't know if this is what you are thinking, but you can delete selected clips on your sd cards in camera.

I know. Fortunately I saved the the entire card structure to the hard drive so I can copy it back to to the card then delete unwanted footage. I wish I could do this with software but none exists.

I struggled with this last month when a client wanted some "sensitive" material removed from the archives. Your strategy was the only way I found also, while maintaining the integrity of the fille structure.

I also learned a cool trick during my search. When shooting for a client that wants the card to archive themselves, and you have shots on the card you don't want them to see, just put another card in slot two and you can copy only the clips you select to the new card. It takes a while to copy, but saved the day one time when I forgot to format before shooting.
