delete internal mic sound

In FCP, how do I delete the sound that my internal mic picked up?

Same way you delete any track from the time line... select the clip and hit CMD+X (or SHIFT+X for ripple delete).

Umm. Doesn't Command+X or Shift+X 'Cut' the audio out (loading into the clipboard)? Wouldn't it be better to just option click the audio track and push delete?
