deinterlacing

I've tried searching and haven't found much info on deinterlacing here. My problem is that after deinterlacing (avid ref file to cce or procoder to dvd architect) the video plays as if it is behind mosaic glass (not all the time but enough to ruin the video).
I seem to get better result going from non interlaced to odd field (instead of the normal way of odd field to interlaced).
I also get really bad results where I have video in slow motion.
Does anyone have any insight as to why this is? Better yet does anyone have a good solution to deinterlacing???
Thanks in advance for any input.

Re: deinterlacing

Is this a DVX specific question? You shouldn't have to deinterlace with the DVX, that's the whole point. But as far as the deinterlacing question goes, it sounds like an avid codec problem. Did you try rendering as a standard DV file and see if it still does it? With the DVX you can work in a native 30progressive scan (P) or a 24P timeline. IF you are deinterlacing, you are losing approximatly 50% of your image information.

Re: deinterlacing

Well this video was a wedding and with the low lights I didn't want to shoot 24p. I figured I'd get less grain in my picture shooting 30i.

Re: deinterlacing

I guess this brings up another question.
Would you guys suggest shooting 24p during a wedding where through out most of the dancing the lights would be low. I have a light but it is only good for upclose shots, it wouldn't really help during situations like the dance or a dark ceremony.
