Defective Panasonic SDHC Card

As some of you know, recently I discovered that my Panasonic 16GB Class 6 SDHC card didn't work in my Panasonic HMC150 (all I got was the dreaded 'Check Card' message). I fiddled with the protect switch on the side of the card and got it to work for a little while, but it eventually stopped working again. It worries me that this could happen, but thankfully no footage was lost, since I backed up the footage before it went south on me again. BTW the card was the one that Panasonic sent me as part of their promotion.

I contacted Panasonic and after being bumped around to 357 different departments  I finally spoke to an engineer that was able to help me out. He told me to send the card back with a short letter and a copy of the receipt that showed the purchase of the camera (including the camera's serial number). I bought the camera on 4/1/09 and received the card sometime in June. He just left a voicemail informing me that they are replacing the card:dankk2:. They even opened the package and tested it before sending it out. I should receive the package soon.

If anyone has problems with Panasonic cards, here is the contact info you should use for this VERY helpful gentleman:

I don't know what the point of getting a Panasonic SDHC card is anyway....massively over-priced.

You tried formatting in camera?

Good luck!

So Panasonic cards are no better than the competition concerning data loss.
The GH2 needs 2 cards slots and instant recording to 2 cards.

When I inserted it into the camera (dozens of times), it triggered the dreaded 'Check Card' message. It wouldn't format, play or record in the camera, nor would it mount on my Mac. The engineer at Panasonic said that the card was indeed defective.

I have an identical Panny card, as well as several other Transcends and a Delkin, and they all work perfectly.

About the only way to determine any reliability pattern with cards makes and models would be to do a considerable amount of googling to get enough of a sample of end user experiences. Here I've used 4 Panasonic class 6 cards (4 & 8 GB) and one Transcend, and the Transcend failed as described above. So I'm more likely to buy Panasonic than Transcend next time. But statistically I've got no real grounds for that preference.
