FYI there are no drivers for it for CS4. They're working on it, but given that Adobe didn't ship out SDK's to the 3rd party vendors until after CS4 released, it might be a month or two.
It worked great with CS3. And they advertise FCP support. Adobe just hosed everyone by not releasing the SDK's until After CS4 shipped. Matrox, Aja, Cineform... they're all in the same boat as Blackmagic.
With HDV camcorders and firewire, once you plugged it on, it showed up as a camera on the Mac. You could use it in Quicktime Pro to record audio/video, it showed up in iMovie..you could capture and record as if it was a webcam, showed up in iChat, etc...the system saw it as a camera.
Does the HMC150 + the Intensity Pro via HDMI do the same, is it available on the system as a camera?
I never got a chance to try it that way, but I don't think so. HDMI doesn't work the same way as firewire. I know there isn't camera control, if that's what you're looking for. Neither does it transmit timecode to the best of my knowledge.
I have the BM Intensity Pro. I use the HDMI for capturing and the firewire port to control the camera or deck. It captures in 4:2:2 and 1920 X 1080 resolution. Quality is good, and we use Premiere CS3 to edit via the BM codec. Pls check www.decklink.com for more info.
yes. that's the coolest part about the HDMI. Video and audio. FCP is what we used to capture but it is supported by a few NLE's. If you use the Component then you'll be hooking up 5 cables instead of one.
So just to make double sure...because I even emailed the company and they said it probably would not work...you are not recording on the camera at all..and you are not transferring footage (capture)...you simply have the camera on and in camera mode with the HDMI going into the intensity pro..the live video is coming in to FCP and you can click "capture" in FCP and it records the live camera audio and video?
Also..do you have to be in a specific mode? 1080i? 720p?
I've never done the direct pass so I'm not sure... This would be a good method to bypass the compression and get better quality greenscreen.. but I've not done this with the intensity.. but I'm not sure why it wouldn't work. The camera is still outputting a video signal... I can't say for sure, but I'd assume that it would work. I have done this with the HVX via firewire and also via the component.. so I'd say that the HMC should work too.. but again, I can't validate it.. I don't have access to the intensity now so I can't test it for you but I'm sure someone will on this forum..
