hi,
blackmagic has made this video recorder:
http://www.decklink.com/products/videorecorder/.
do you think that it can works with programs like final cut, scopebox, dvrack or similar to monitor the camera signal without the use of firewire but using the output component signal from hvx200?
for me is better than firewire becouse:
1:i'm in pal land and without final cut 6(i have the previous version 5.4) you cannot seen nothing on computer screen if the camera is setting in the recording mode 720p 25p .
2.for all the world, if the camera is setting to 720 pN again no signal from the camera.
this can be a problem if you want to monitor the signal during recording.

then i think that you can use a longer cable instead the limitation of the 4,5 feet of firewire(without any firewire repeater).

do you think that it can be a good alternative to firewire for hvx200??

It's not HD, so if you want HD, you're out of luck. Does the HVX even have non-HD component outputs? I'm not sure it does... I don't have one myself yet, so I'm going off my memory from the Panny brochures...

yes,
hvx200 has sd output in component-composite and s-video.you can use it also if you recording in HD.
i need only for waveform/vectroscope control.

If you only need to take the signal to a waveform monitor. Why not just use the SD Output (yellow rca plug).

I am just not understanding why you need the device???

BTW - I have used the SD Output (yellow rca plug) to connect to my Panasonic Monitor which has a built in waveform monitor and it works fine. Usually we connect with the RGB component connection.
