I need something to 'patch' my BT-S1360Y video monitor into my computer. After considering a Canopus ADVC110, I got to thinking. Wouldn't a DV deck serve the same purpose, plus add the ability to transfer DVtape to computer? Perhaps a JVC SR-VS30U (~$850)? Then I thought perhaps just a Panasonic PV GS180 (~$400) could serve these two functions, plus give me another camera in a pinch for half the cost. I know using the PV GS180 isn't the most 'professional' solution, but it would seem to be the cheapest. What would be the downside? Any opinions?

They will all work.
But I would go for the GS180. It is a spare camera, and JVC decks arn't very good.
