Hi all,

I've been lurking/browsing here for quite some time and this my first time posting so let me say what an absolute treasure of information and input this forum is! DVX User's linked to my site and for good reason.

My friend operates a small production outfit... mostly local commercials, weddings and some corporate stuff. He's thinking about selling me his camera but we've yet to discuss terms because he may be doing a package deal, etc. The DVX100B is around two years old and has about 300 hours on it. I haven't personally inspected it for a while now but he takes great care of his stuff.

So, assuming the lense is free of scratches, etc., what would be a decent price range for this deal? He's a good friend of mine so I want this to be a fair deal on both sides and thought I'd seek out advice from those who'd know.

Thanks in advance as all information greatly appreciated.

Depending on whether or not he sold you the package or just the camera, for the camera alone I wouldn't pay much more than $2000. You can purchase a brand new DVX from Willoughby's a registered DVX seller for only $3000, plus a $500 cash rebate.

those are my two cents...

Well I can tell you that it can't be at almost 2 years old because the Dvx100b was release around Nov 05 making it at most about 14-15 months olds

Thanks for the replies, guys. So around $2000 sounds like it'd be a fair price, which is what I was thinking. And yes, it's a DVX100b that's under 2 years. Oops. ;)

I have a quick question for everyone here. I've tried searching for the answer and have come up with some varying opinions on this topic. As I mentioned, his camera has about 300 hours on it. As far as I know, he takes pretty good care of his stuff and it's a DVX10b so it's obviously not too old (about a year or so). I'm getting a great package deal but I am a bit concerned with the hours. So, bottom line: is 300 hours a lot? I've heard theheads fail at around 1500 and I've heard 3000. What seems to be the consensus here?

I'm not certain on the answer to the question about the heads - but, like others mentioned, I would keep in mind the rebates available on a new DVX100B right now.

From Panasonic's website:

Purchase a new Panasonic AG-DVX100B DV Cinema Camera by March 31, 2007 and receive a $500.00 cash rebate, FREE copies of Red Giant Software's Magic Bullet Editors 2 software ($395.00 retail value) and Instant HD software ($129.00 retail value), and a FREE copy of The DVX Book + DVD by Barry Green (a $69.95 retail value)!

In the end - l guess it depends on how much the software and Barry's book means to you.
Buying used can be a good deal sometimes - just keep in mind that you aren't just getting the camera when you buy it new.

Bumpity bump bump.

Anyone... please? I gotsta know...
